Dear Members:

It is with tremendous excitement and anticipation that we six embark on the new 2010/2011 Fremont Branch year.

RoseMarie, Carolyn and Jeanne are seasoned executive team members in their second year and Jo, Sara and Shirley are the new kids on the block in their first year.  We think this is a good blend of experience and fresh approach to make for a great team journey.

We feel very secure in the knowledge that the concept of having co-presidents in our  branch has proven very effective and has worked smoothly over the last two years.  So much so that now many other branches are embracing this unique form of leadership.  We are very lucky that the presidents who went before us have developed an excellent process and seamless communications.

Up, Up and Away!
The theme for this year’s activities is:  Up, Up and Away.

We want to take us all up where the air is rarified and offer programs that both feel friendly and familiar as well as new and groundbreaking.   You’ll be hearing about them very soon.

We would really like to know how you feel about our offerings and the progress of the branch this year and ask you to give us feedback – both positive and negative.  We are open to new ideas and to that end plan to elicit your suggestions, perspectives and comments about programs and the branch through evaluations.  Also if you have a suggestion for a program or activity for our branch, please e-mail it to us at:  president@aauw-fremontbranch.org.

While there are changes in the branch every year, one thing does not change.   We are still here to break through barriers for women and girls and advance equity through advocacy, education and research.  There is still so much to be done on those fronts and together we know we can make a difference both locally and globally. Join us in that cause and in the cause of warm and wonderful friendship.

Go up, up and away with us this year.

Cheers

Jo, Shirley, Jeanne, RoseMarie, Sara and Carolyn
