Book Talk:
The Book Talk group fits our times - flexible, contemporary
and economical. It meets every six weeks at Suju's Coffee, alternating between Saturday mornings and
Monday evenings, to discuss books (available in paperback) that have been published
in the past five years. Day Literature:
Books chosen for discussion range from the classics to
best sellers. Afternoon Book Review:
Afternoon delight! Join us once a month.
We meet in each other's homes and spend the afternoon discussing our chosen book. Evening Literature:
"Evening Lit" welcomes you to join us on the second Wednesday
of every month for stimulating reviews and lively discussions. Our selections
range from the classics to poetry, as well as current fiction and nonfiction by American
and international authors. The schedule will be posted at the Fall Brunch
or watch the TWIG for the locations and topics. Mother-Daughter Book Review:
This is a book group for mothers/
grandmothers and their daughters/granddaughters (or even aunts and their nieces).
This activity is designed for 9 -12 year old girls who can read from
4th to 6th grade level literature. Book Exchange:
Like reading best sellers, but don't like library waiting
lists and time restrictions or bookstore prices? Then the book exchange
is for you. To join, purchase a hardback book from the current best seller's
list, either fiction or non-fiction. Your book will be rotated among book
exchange members on the first of each month and will be returned to you at the end
of the year. Please call before purchasing your book to avoid duplication.
Great Decisions:
The topic for discussion will be chosen from the U.S.
Foreign Policy Association's Great Decisions briefing book. Each year
the book presents eight of the most important foreign policy issues facing the USA. Around the World Dining:
The group prepares and shares a variety of multicultural meals
during the year in member's homes. Come and join us on our epicurian journeys. Bridge Marathon:
Our AAUW Marathon Bridge Group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6-8 pm at Mission Coffee. We play eight times during
the year with 20 hands played at each meeting. Each player donates $20
at the beginning of the year. A running score is kept. For
each two tables, the high table wins $60. This leaves $100 for local
scholarships. We have donated an average of $250 annually. New groups are forming. In marathon, one
plays with the same partner all year. Come and find a partner and sign up. Game Nights:
Bunco Nights and Mexican Train Game Nights (played with dominoes) include dessert and are scheduled just for fun. Travel:
Do you enjoy travel? If you do, join the Travel
Group on the fourth Sunday evening of the month. We have a friendly social
hour followed by a delicious potluck. Guest speakers and club members
share their travel adventures and experiences in the U.S. and abroad through slide
presentations. New Image:
This support group for weight management meets every
Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Coffee on Washington Boulevard.
First Friday Night Socials:
Come join us on the first Friday of every month!
See the Calendar Page for the date, time and place of the next social.
Day and Evening Tripping:
We go on local outings during the day and sometimes
in the evening. Contact our Chairperson, Rose Marie Everett, for more information.
Book Chat and Informal Tea:
We meet on the third Thursday of each month at our member’s
homes. We read fiction and non-fiction books that are usually best
sellers and/or prize winners. Contact the Chairperson,
Alison Kieft, for more information.
